DHARWAD: A total of 19 candidates have remained in fray for the Dharwad Parliamentary constituency.
after four candidates withdrew their nomination on Monday, which happened to be the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers.
The candidates who withdrew their nomination papers include JD(U) candidate Gurappa Totad, independent candidates R D Komardesai, Prakash Doddwad and Rajshekarayya Kantimath.
The candidates who have remained in fray are: Gangadhar Badiger, contesting on SUCI, Raju Nayakvadi (Independent), Santosh Nandur (Uttam Prajakeeya Party), Revanasiddappa Talwar (Bharatiya Prajagala Kalyan Paksha), Udaykumar Ambiger (Independent), Mallikarjun Balangoudar (Independent), Raju Kamble (Azad Mazdoor Kissan Party), Makhtum Khan Sirdesai (Independent), sitting MP and BJP candidate Prahlad Joshi, Vinod Ghodake (PBI), Congress candidate Vinay Kulkarni, Shakeel Doddwad (Independent), Somshekar Yadav (Independent), Mannari Vadiraj, Veerappa Maradagi, Basavaraj Sangannavar, Abdulrehman Dundasi, Haseenabanu Tapalwale ((Independents) and Irappa Harijan Madar (BSP).
Returning Officer Deepa Cholan announced the names of the candidates in the fray and distributed the symbols to them in the presence of Election chief observer Sameerkumar Biswas.
