Dharwad: Distribution of saplings, planting of saplings, essay competition on containing pollution, taking pledge on not to use plastic bags marked the World Environment Day programmes in Dharwad on Wednesday.
Students and people from different walks of life planted nearly 300 fruit bearing trees near Banadur Lake in Dharwad.
They gathered under the aegis of NatureFirst Eco-Village and Nature Research Center in celebrated World Environment Day 2019.
Nature First CEO P V Hiremath said, global warming is a threat to humans, and this should be contained by growing more trees. “The governments should conduct more afforestation programmes and turn it into a mass movement” he added.
