AFTER BURN INJURIES WING, KIMS TO GET SKIN BANK SOON

HUBBALLI: After opening an exclusive wing to treat burn injuries, the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), will soon get a skin bank.

According to a report, plastic surgeon at KIMS Dr. SS Shirol said KIMS hopes to set up a skin bank soon. KIMS receives various kinds of burn injury patients. Opening a new skin bank will save more patients who suffer burns.

“Due to lack of facilities, many critically injured patients lose their lives. Transplantation can save patients and people are coming forward to donate skin. The skin bank in Hubballi will be able to save more lives,” he added.

KIMS will be the second government hospital in the state to have a skin bank, after Bengaluru Medical College.
