CASE FILED AGAINST HUBBALLI AYURVEDA COLLEGE

HUBBALLI: In a first such case, Old Hubballi police station has filed a case against Hubballi Ayurveda College (HAC), Heggeri for allegedly denying jobs to SC-ST candidates in teaching and non-teaching posts.

According to a complaint filed by Social Welfare Department Dharwad’s joint director N Muniraju, the aided college has intentionally violated government rules and regulations pertaining to SC-ST and other backward communities reservation in appointing candidates for the posts of teaching and non-teaching from 1985 to 2013.

According to The Times of India report, he said: “We have been directed by the government to book a case against the college under Section 5 of Karnataka SC-ST and OBC Rules, 2000.”

Senior Journalist Shivakumar Bhojashettar, who brought the issue to light, said TOI: How was this not pointed out by any government agencies since 1986? Dalit organizations should protest against such violations.”
