HUBBALLI POLICE CRACK MAJOR KIDNAPPING CASE, STUDENT RESCUED

HUBBALLI: Hubballi-Dharwad police cracked a major kidnapping case by rescuing a student and arresting as many as eight kidnappers in the city today.

The victim student has been identified as a student of Class 9 at St. Anthony School in Vidyanagar and son of Vidyanagar’s businessman and contractor Nazeer Ahmad Attar.

INCIDENT DETAILS:

Nazeer Ahmed’s father dropped the boy at the school at around 9 am on July 30. Soon after that, the accused approached the boy and kidnapped him. They then called and informed Nazeer Ahmed that his son has been kidnapped and demanded the ransom amount of Rs. one crore.

Nazeer Ahmed finally paid Rs. 40 lakh and brought his son to home. When he inquired the details of the incident to his son, the victim narrated that one Abdul Raafe kidnaped him. He also noted the auto number (ETPS 0022) that was used for his kidnap.

On August 1st, Nazeer Ahmed gave a complaint to Vidyanagar police station. The police team led by Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner MN Nagaraj, DCP Renuka Sukumar, and ACP HK Pathan; cracked the case and arrested eight accused based on the auto number provided by the 14-year-old student.

The arrested have been identified as Shanu Kanavi of Gopanakoppa, Suryakant Bhandari of Shabari Nagar, Abdul Rehman Shiroor of Ramnagar, Shivaji Umachgi of Gadag, Maruti Hanagi of Nagashettykoppa, Bharat Sarvoday of Parasvadi, Ajeed Karadagi of Gopanakoppa, and Ravi Harobalvadi of Dharwad.
