KARNATAKA BANDH GETS LUKEWARM RESPONSE IN HUBBALLI

HUBBALLI: The dawn-to-dusk bandh call given by Kannada organisations and farmers over Mahadayi river water sharing row, evoked a lukewarm response in Hubballi today (Thursday).

Normal life was largely unaffected as most of shops, hotels and petrol pumps stayed open. Autorickshaws, cabs and other modes of private transport plied normally. However, KSRTC and Bendre buses were off the roads and many commuters decided to get their own vehicles to work.

As usual, members of various Kannada organizations, Dalit organisations and Social Democratic Party of India staged protests at different points at Channamma Circle, and at many taluk centres.

At Channamma Circle, on duty police personnel tried their level best to prevent protestors from burning tyres.

Schools and colleges in city were remained closed.

No untoward incident was reported too.
