HUBBALLI: People of Hubballi-Dharwad must know these updates regarding the ambitious Tender SURE road which has been taken up at a cost of Rs. 35 crore.
The 24 metre wide road for a distance of 2.19 km from Arts College Circle to Toalanakere via Shirur Park is proposed to have state-of-the-art facilities including concrete road, bicycle track, all utilities underground, and improved junctions.
The National Asphalt Products Construction (NAPC) Company is the contractor.
The road will have two separate lanes for vehicles with 7 metre width each, having a one metre wide central median with double arm streetlight poles. On both sides, the road will have 1.4 metre wide continuous footpath and a one-metre wide cycle track also.
All utilities including water pipelines, electricity lines, telephone cables, underground drainage, and storm water line would be underground.
The project also includes development of junctions, bus bays, pedestrian crossings, bridge, and auto bays. Ramps and bollards at intersections, landscape strips, and lane separators are also included in the design.
After the rainy season,the existing bridge across the Nala at Shirur Park would be demolished, and a new bridge would be constructed. Vehicular traffic would be diverted on parallel roads during this work.
The road development work is expected to be completed in January.
