DHARWAD: As the Election Commission of India has announced the schedule of General Election to Lok Sabha, the Dharwad parliamentary constituency would be going for polls during the second phase of polling on April 23 and the counting of the votes would be held on May 23.
The Dharwad parliamentary constituency has a total of eight assembly segments, namely: Navalgund, Kundgol, Dharwad, H-D East, H-D Central, H-D West, Kalghatgi and Shiggoan taluk in Haveri district.
Deputy Commissioner Deepa Cholan, who is also the District Election Officer said, as per the final roll voters information, there are a total of 16.88 lakh eligible voters in the Dharwad parliamentary constituency, of which 8.58 lakh are male voters and 8.29 lakh are female voters.
37 NEW POLLING BOOTHS
37 new polling booths have been added in the constituency this time. Navalgund had 230 polling booths in the last election and it has been increased to 234, Kundgol had 210 polling booths and increased to 214, Dharwad rural had 212 polling booths and increased to 231, H-D East has 210 polling booths, H-D Central had 251 polling booths and increased to 253, H-D West had 261 polling booths and increased to 266, Kalghatgi had 224 polling booths and increased to 226, while Shiggoan had 237 polling booths it has been increased to 238.
