Hubballi: In a bid to promote communal harmony, the masjid committee of Shabri Nagar in Keshwapur here organised an Iftar get together programme for members of the Hindu Community on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Maulana Abu Sufiyan Saqafi of Mangaluru said, While all religions preach humanity and togetherness, a few people, who are unaware about the religious values, try to disturb harmony in the society.
“Every religion has good people. But only a 5% members of every religion try to sow the seeds of communalism and terrorism. If we take over such people, we can build a healthy nation,” he added.
The maulana further said, “When Hindus and Muslims of this country learn to live together peacefully and take Christians also with them, only then our nation would get the true and complete independence.”
President of Madina Masjid Committee Ashraf Ali presided over the programme.
BJP MLA Jagadish Shettar, Congress leader Shakir Sanadi, and others were present.
