Newlyweds exchange masks instead of garlands in Hubballi

HUBBALLI: A wedding is a special event in Indian culture, and exchanging garlands is a common convention.

But as the coronavirus turns our lives upside down, weddings are no exception. With the government mandating the wearing of masks at weddings in order to check the spread of the disease, a Ganiga family conducted a wedding at the Somalingeshwara Temple in Uday Nagar in a novel manner.

The newlyweds, Shivaraj and Prashantini and Sunil and Supriya, exchanged masks instead of garlands on the occasion, thus spreading the message of safety in the times of the coronavirus.
