SCHOOLS MUST OBSERVE ‘NO BAG DAY’ ON 3RD SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH

DHARWAD: The state government has issued orders to reduce the burden of school children of carrying textbooks. The order says, “The weight of school bags should not exceed 10% of body weight.”

As per the order, the school bag should weigh 1.5 to 2 kg for 1 to 2 class, 2 to 3 kg for classes 3 to 5, 6 to 4 kg for classes 6 to 8 and 4 to 5 kg for classes 9 to 10.

“Homework should not be given to the children, who are studying in class 1 and 2. ‘No bag day’ must be observed in schools on 3rd Saturday of every month,” the order instructed.
