Two Covid-19 deaths in Karnataka, record rise in daily cases

Karnataka reported deaths of two Covid-19 patients on Saturday and a record 216 cases between 5 pm, May 22, and 5 pm, May 23.

The total number of Covid patients in Karnataka now stands at 1,959, of which 1,307 are active patients. There have been 42 Covid deaths while two patients died of non-Covid causes. Thirteen patients are in the ICU.

Of the two deaths, one patient died of cardiac arrest in Dakshina Kannada while a 32-year-old man died in Bengaluru. The latter was hospitalised on May 19 after he complained of breathing difficulties. He had co-morbidities, the Department of Health and Family Welfare said in the evening media bulletin.
